Supporting the health and care sector during Covid-19

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Joined Up Careers Derbyshire has been busy supporting a ‘system redeployment hub’ getting the right people into the right roles as part of the health and care sector response to the virus.

The pandemic has created the need for additional support in some roles, and reduced the need in others. We have helped assess where there are workforce pressures and sought to fill those gaps.

From getting more cleaners into community facilities to recruiting more drivers to transport patients and medicines, we have helped match offers of support to organisations that need additional resource.

Some of this has involved re-deploying existing staff or bringing in new people into the sector who might have been furloughed by their current employer.

Across health and care in Derby and Derbyshire, there are opportunities for willing, suitably skilled individuals in roles including cleaners, call handlers, ward runners, administrators, care workers, children's workers, clinical roles and drivers.
