Have you heard of the Derbyshire Health and Social Care Reservist Team?

The Health and Social Care Reservists are a Derbyshire wide bank of health and social care staff to be available for flexible working or pre-planned support.

Unlike most other system areas, Derbyshire is running its health and social care reservist workforce across its complete footprint and for both NHS and social care roles. In most areas local NHS Trusts are running their reservist workforce. Running across the entire footprint allows employers to draw from a single workforce pool. This provides greater flexibility for both workers and employers.

The workforce sharing agreement is an integrated care system-wide framework, replacing the national emergency legislation that enabled workforce sharing through the pandemic. The agreement enables colleagues to work on different sites, for different employers without being employed by each individual organisation, in a way that is safe for the individual and the employers. Your organisation will need to have signed up to this in order to access staff.

Here to help

The Health and Social Care Reservist Support Team is available to help your organisation sign up to access our workforce. We can discuss your current staffing shortages to explore role development opportunities that could benefit the system.

Where there are current bank worker roles in existence in your organisation, please continue to make that your first port of call. This team is here to help with agency avoidance that may be achievable via a slightly different offer to what you currently have, or through exploring sharing opportunities across the system.

This will reduce the number of places that workers need to approach to access a range of organisations. Through this exposure, it is hoped this team of workers will become a feeder workforce for the future system.
