Reservist roles

There are five roles available.

Essential Assistant

We are not currently accepting applications for this role as of Monday 19th February

As an Essential Assistant, you will have the opportunity to provide crucial, non-clinical, person-centred care and support to services in a variety of roles.

There is no minimum amount of experience required to undertake the role of an Essential Assistant.

The types of shifts you will have the option to work include, but are not limited to:

  • Ward assistant
  • Customer host
  • Administrator
  • Porter
  • Domestics
  • Catering

The style of shift you book onto is completely your choice and there is no obligation to work shifts that are simply not for you.

Those in an Essential Assistant role will be paid on the NHS Agenda for Change Band 2 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave. In 2023/24 this is £11.45 per hour plus 12.07% to account for annual leave and sickness.

Care Support Assistant

As a Care Support Assistant, you can expect to deliver personal and essential care support as requested by the service provider.

A Reservist Care Support Assistant will have the opportunity to provide support with activities of daily living to people in various health or social care settings including, but not limited to:

  • Personal care
  • Nutrition
  • Mobility support

By undertaking this role, you will be a key person to communicate and escalate service experiences, concerns or examples of good practice to appropriate team members.

To join us as a Care Support Assistant, you will need six months’ care experience.

Nursing Associate

As a Nursing Associate, you can expect to provide practical & technical support to fellow health and social care workers.

You will work within teams supporting the registered nurse in various settings and care environments.

This highly rewarding role is ideal for a person who wishes to work additional hours on top of an existing role, or simply wants to maintain their professional registration away from the sometimes high-intensity nature of the Registered Nurse’s role.

Those in a Registered Nursing Associate role will be paid the NHS Agenda for Change Band 4 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave.

Registered Healthcare Professional

As a Reservist Registered Healthcare Professional, you can expect to support services with care delivery within the scope of your professional role.

This role encompasses a variety of registered professionals including, but not limited to:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Registered Physiotherapist
  • Registered Occupational Therapist
  • Paramedic

Those in a Registered Healthcare Professional role will be paid the NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave. In 2023/24 this is £14.53 per hour plus 12.07% to account for annual leave and sickness

Registered Vaccinator

As a Registered Vaccinator, you can expect to deliver vaccinations safely and effectively as part of a multi-professional team.

You will have a choice of various different settings and care environments to deliver vaccinations and will receive the appropriate training and any require update training.

This highly rewarding role is ideal for a person who wishes to work additional hours on top of an existing role, or simply wants to maintain their professional registration away from the sometimes high intensity nature of the Registered Nurse’s role.

Those in a Registered Reservist Vaccinator role will be paid the NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave. In 2023/24 this is £14.53 per hour plus 12.07% to account for annual leave and sickness
