There are five roles available.

Essential Assistant

We are not currently accepting applications for this role as of Monday 19^th February

As an Essential Assistant, you will have the opportunity to provide crucial, non-clinical, person-centred care and support to services in a variety of roles.

There is no minimum amount of experience required to undertake the role of an Essential Assistant.

The types of shifts you will have the option to work include, but are not limited to:

Ward assistant
Customer host
Administrator
Porter
Domestics
Catering

The style of shift you book onto is completely your choice and there is no obligation to work shifts that are simply not for you.

Those in an Essential Assistant role will be paid on the NHS Agenda for Change Band 2 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave. In 2023/24 this is £11.45 per hour plus 12.07% to account for annual leave and sickness.

Essential Assistant Job Description
Role overview:

Main duties of the role:

To work flexibly to support services with essential tasks determined by the service provider, within the scope of the role. This may include administrative and reception duties, supporting service infrastructure with domestic and portering duties, Marshal support or befriending support to people awaiting discharge from health services. This is to enable services to grow and implement essential functions, such as (but not limited to) testing centres and/or discharge support beds- The post holder will be supported by the services they are working with as well as a central team. The post holder will be a key person to communicate and escalate service experiences, concerns or examples of good practice to appropriate team members.

A Reservist Essential Assistant will have:

Relevant practical skills/experience to undertake the role

Willing to undertake training as determined by the scope of the role

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work well as part of a team

Compassionate and empathetic towards others

Ability to build a healthy rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds

Ability to work well as part of a team

Comfortable using a computer

Ability to work in different locations and settings across Derbyshire.

Care Support Assistant

As a Care Support Assistant, you can expect to deliver personal and essential care support as requested by the service provider.

A Reservist Care Support Assistant will have the opportunity to provide support with activities of daily living to people in various health or social care settings including, but not limited to:

Personal care
Nutrition
Mobility support

By undertaking this role, you will be a key person to communicate and escalate service experiences, concerns or examples of good practice to appropriate team members.

To join us as a Care Support Assistant, you will need six months’ care experience.

Care Support Assistant Job Description
Role overview:

Main duties of the role:

To work flexibly to support services with essential care support determined by the service provider, within the scope of the role. To provide support with activities of daily living to people in various health or social care settings – including (but not limited to) personal care, nutrition, and mobility support. To provide reassurance and emotional support to people in receipt of health and social care services. Undertake basic visual / non-contact / soft signs observations and assessments of physical and mental health (as per training provided). The post holder will be a key person to communicate and escalate service experiences, concerns or examples of good practice to appropriate team members.

A Reservist Care Support Assistant will have:

Relevant practical skills/experience to undertake the role

Experience of first aid and basic life support- willing to complete training

Experience in a caring role (including non-paid caring experience) or a current student of a healthcare programme

Willing to undertake training as determined by the scope of the role

Ability to work well as part of a team

Compassionate and empathetic towards others

Ability to build a healthy rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds

Comfortable using a computer

Ability to work in different locations and settings across Derbyshire.

Nursing Associate

As a Nursing Associate, you can expect to provide practical & technical support to fellow health and social care workers.

You will work within teams supporting the registered nurse in various settings and care environments.

This highly rewarding role is ideal for a person who wishes to work additional hours on top of an existing role, or simply wants to maintain their professional registration away from the sometimes high-intensity nature of the Registered Nurse’s role.

Those in a Registered Nursing Associate role will be paid the NHS Agenda for Change Band 4 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave.

Nursing Associate Job Description
Role overview:

Main duties of the role:

The Reservist Nursing Associate role is a generic role, practicing within the discipline of nursing (but not defined by a field of nursing).

Care for people in a range of different health and social care settings.

Practice within the NMC Standards of proficiency for nursing associates, the NMC Code and within own professional knowledge, skills and competencies.

Accountable for their own professional practice as a Nursing Associate. They will not lead teams, nor will they co-ordinate care, but will work within teams supporting the registered nurse.

In collaboration with the person’s responsible registered nurse:

Implement and deliver high quality, safe, effective compassionate person[1]centred care plan(s), that has been prescribed by the person’s responsible registered nurse.

Monitor health and social care needs and escalate needs appropriately.

Contribute to (re)assessment and / or evaluation of a person’s care plan(s).

Provide practical & technical support to fellow health and social care workers.

Effectively communicate concerns and queries to the responsible registered nurse, line manager, relevant health or social care service, or emergency service, according to need.

Always remain up to date, in all mandatory required training, to practice in this role.

Undertake additional training / continuing professional development as determined by the scope of this role, or as required to maintain ongoing registration as a Nursing Associate with the NMC Nursing & Midwifery Council.

A Reservist Nursing Associate will have:

Current and ongoing professional registration with the NMC Nursing & Midwifery Council as a Nursing Associate.

Successfully completed a Nursing Associate post registration preceptorship programme with a CQC regulated health or social care organisation of at least 12 months duration.

Knowledge, understanding and ability to practice within the NMC Standards of proficiency for nursing associates and the NMC Code and within their own professional competencies in order to practice safely and effectively as a Reservist Nursing Associate.

Up to date; knowledge, practical / technical skills, experience, and current clinical and / or care competencies to safely and competently perform all the duties expected in this Nursing Associate role, in line with NMC Standards of proficiency for nursing associates and the NMC Code

Full understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Nursing Associate and the overseeing registered nurse.

Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team – with a wide variety of colleagues in different roles.

Effective communication skills, being compassionate and empathetic and able to build trust and rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.

Comfortable using a computer.

Ability to commute and work in different locations and settings across Derby and Derbyshire.

Registered Healthcare Professional

As a Reservist Registered Healthcare Professional, you can expect to support services with care delivery within the scope of your professional role.

This role encompasses a variety of registered professionals including, but not limited to:

Registered Nurse
Registered Mental Health Nurse
Registered Physiotherapist
Registered Occupational Therapist
Paramedic

Registered Healthcare Professional Job Description
Role overview:

Main duties of the role:

To support services with care delivery within the scope of your professional role. To plan, provide and direct patient care and support in a variety of clinical settings. Plan, advise and recommend treatment when necessary. To maintain written and electronic records, accurate details under correct patients to comply with national standards and information governance. The post holder will be a key person to communicate and escalate service experiences, concerns, or examples of good practice to appropriate team members. To maintain standards in line with expectations of post holder’s professional body.

A Reservist Registered Healthcare Professional will have:

Current professional healthcare registration

Knowledge, skills, competencies and duties relevant to their specific band 5 registered healthcare professional role (as described in NHS Employers National Job Profiles)

Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development

Relevant practical skills/experience to undertake the role

Willing to undertake training as determined by the scope of the role

Ability to work well as part of a team

Compassionate and empathetic towards others

Ability to build a healthy rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds

Ability to work well as part of a team

Comfortable using a computer

Registered Vaccinator

As a Registered Vaccinator, you can expect to deliver vaccinations safely and effectively as part of a multi-professional team.

You will have a choice of various different settings and care environments to deliver vaccinations and will receive the appropriate training and any require update training.

This highly rewarding role is ideal for a person who wishes to work additional hours on top of an existing role, or simply wants to maintain their professional registration away from the sometimes high intensity nature of the Registered Nurse’s role.

Those in a Registered Reservist Vaccinator role will be paid the NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 plus 12.07% on top of their basic hourly rate to cover for sickness and annual leave. In 2023/24 this is £14.53 per hour plus 12.07% to account for annual leave and sickness

Registered Vaccinator Job Description
Role overview:

Main duties of the role:

Preparation of vaccine prior to administration by the immunisers using aseptic technique.

Review of complex medical histories and potential adverse reactions.

To deliver vaccinations safely and effectively as part of a multi professional team.

To maintain written and electronic records, recording vaccine details under correct patients to comply with national standards and information governance.

The post holder will be a key person to communicate and escalate service experiences, concerns or examples of good practice to appropriate team members.

To maintain standards in line with expectations of post holder’s professional Body.

Ensure up to date in knowledge, skills, competence and best practice in vaccination administration.

A Reservist Registered Vaccinator will have:

Current professional healthcare registration

Knowledge, skills, competencies and duties relevant to their specific band 5 registered healthcare professional role (as described in NHS Employers National Job Profiles)

Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development

Relevant practical skills/experience to undertake the role

Willing to undertake training as determined by the scope of the role

Ability to work well as part of a team

Compassionate and empathetic towards others

Ability to build a healthy rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds
