All students on this programme will be required to report to the Education Centre, Chesterfield Royal Hospital and attend in Scarsdale Wing, Chesterfield Royal Hospital as well as at base units off site.

Placement Outline

Applications will be shortlisted and successful candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

Interviews will be held on 22nd February 2022 either in person or on MS Teams

Induction day will be held on 14th April 2022 and include subjects such as infection control, safeguarding, health and safety, covid, professional behaviours, social media, and a learners agreement.

Learning opportunities from this placement will include:

1 day in Antenatal/Postnatal

1 day on Trinity Ward

1 day in a community base with the Midwifery Support Worker

This is an observational placement only - although you will interact with patients you will not be allowed to give direct patient care.

It is essential that all applications include a strong personal statement to be considered for this programme

Addional Requirements:

Only open to students who meet the criteria to apply successfully for a Midwifery course this year.

All successful applicants must provide a current Enhanced DBS clearance.

 

Dress Code:
  • It is expected that work experience candidates will arrive for duty smartly dressed.
  • Clothes should allow for a range of movements. Long trousers, or a calf length skirt, should be worn with a plain polo shirt or t-shirt/short-sleeved blouse, as some areas can be quite warm.
  • Shoes should be supportive, cover the whole foot and be low heeled and dark in colour.
  • Clothes should be changed daily to minimise the risk of cross-infection.
  • Must observe Covid restrictions which remain in place in the hospital, for example provide evidence of a negative lateral flow test on the morning of placement, wear a mask whilst on site and observe social distancing measures.
